What's it about?
Some people don’t like the Muppets. Some people don’t like chocolate.
Created by Jim Henson, these creatures made of felt and cloth somehow and immediately came to represent the very embodiment of kindness, a simple manifestation of joy.
And perhaps key to it all, they never appeared to be anything less than absolutely real.
The inherent themes of the TV show and characters were at once sarcastic, but never mean, sentimental, but never sappy, silly, but never stupid.
With the Muppets you could leave easy cynicism at the door, and throw pandering cuteness out the window.
Over the course of numerous films, the characters always remained themselves, while framed by stories ranging from a diamond heist caper, the dream of making it on Broadway or in Hollywood, to surprisingly faithful adaptations of literary classics.
The key to the Muppets was a big heart and a deep soul.
Also, love struck pigs, pig struck frogs, insane “Turkey things”, unfunny bears, musical dogs, insane drummers, so much more.
They played the music. They lit the lights. And they never stopped chasing that rainbow connection.
Kermit: “Bear left.”
Fozzie: “Right, frog.”
Statler: “I’ve seen detergent leave a better film than this!”
The pitch: "Come up with a brand new idea for a Muppet movie."
